How We Work Together

In this introductory call, we can establish a connection and get to know each other. I want to make sure I’m the best fit to bring your storytelling project to life, honoring your legacy or the legacy of your loved one!

I will listen as you share your situation, along with your unique needs and ideas. Together, we’ll explore and brainstorm to get the creative juices flowing. During this call, I will explain my fees and the next steps, should you decide to move forward.

If you do decide to work with me (hooray!), I will send you a proposal to review, discussing the contents of our call. This proposal is your contract to sign. I will also send over an invoice with your deposit. This initial payment secures your space in my calendar.

If you choose to work with me on this project, we will have around 3 – 10 calls (amount of calls vary depending on service selected) where we just…well, talk! These sessions can be as informal as you like. And as a reminder, Telling Your Story is for anyone; it’s not just reserved for the actively dying!

We will discuss a list of in-depth questions, customized to your situation and service chosen. These questions may be discussed in-meeting, or I may ask you to complete them independently and send them to me. Again, this will be tailor-made to your unique circumstances. In this list, I will learn about the most important aspects of your journey (or your loved one’s journey).

Some of the questions may include: Who were the most influential people in your life? Name a handful of particularly difficult challenges. What risks did you take? What lessons did you have to learn before they stuck?

At this point, I’ve gathered the information I need to begin crafting your eulogy, obituary, ceremony, and/or life story book.

Through this process, I will spend many hours compiling my notes and the answers from our meetings. I will arrange this material into a unified, cohesive piece that tells the story of you or your loved one.

If needed, I will arrange to collaborate with you for additional meetings.

After I create your custom piece, I will send a first draft for review. Don’t be surprised if the first draft reads like a finished product! If you have critiques or edits, this is the time to share them with me. This can be done entirely through email correspondence or through another meeting.

I pride myself on quality writing and client satisfaction. Therefore, I’ll refine your piece until you love it!
