What is a death doula? How do you help me?

A death doula (or end-of-life doula) is a non-medical guide who provides emotional and logistical support to individuals and their families before, during, and after the transition from life to death.

Every client is different, but in general, a death doula may be called upon to assist with…

  • Documenting end-of-life wishes
  • Planning vigils or funerals
  • Writing obituaries and/or assisting with writing life stories and other legacy projects
  • Being a safe space to explore what a meaningful life and meaningful death looks like
  • Providing grief support in the immediate aftermath of a death or months or even years after a person has died

I provide compassionate and knowledgeable support across the broad spectrum of the end-of-life.

This journey could begin with a terminal diagnosis, or it could begin years before with a desire to explore your relationship with death and mortality.

Wherever you may be on this continuum, my role is to help you navigate this tender time by offering emotional, spiritual, and practical assistance.

From assisting with documenting your end-of-life wishes and planning celebrations of life to holding you in a safe and nurturing space while you navigate grief, my intention is to offer comfort and facilitate a personalized experience during this profound and complex transition.

How We Work Together

I provide support at any time: whether you just received a devastating diagnosis, or whether you are young, in perfect health, or are simply interested in discussing the “taboo” of death with someone who understands.

Before we begin working together, we will meet for a complimentary consultation. This is a time for us to get to know each other and for me to better understand your situation. We will also discuss service fees to ensure clear communication and that we are both aligned on the process and value exchange.

If we are a match, I will prepare a contract for you to review. The contents of our call – including the proposed scope of services – will be clearly outlined within this document. From here, you will sign the contract, I will send an invoice to secure your place in my calendar, and our work together will commence.

Pricing & Commitment to Accessible Care

Death doulas are often under-utilized due to a lack of awareness around our work, and/or cost limitations. I am sensitive to both realities, especially regarding finances. The fees for my services are bespoke packages that are customized to your situation and needs. These packages are built around my $55 hourly rate, except for all Legacy/Writing services, which are $75/hour. If you cannot afford my services, please reach out so we can come to a suitable arrangement.
